Loved all of this. The RT’s was also my first Wes Anderson film, seen in its opening weekend on my first trip to Manhattan, staying with a friend on the UWS. Smitten ever since. I don’t know the popular opinion, but French Dispatch also ranked high for me, seemed like a return to the literary visual storytelling of this film…. Thanks for the read, sir.

Very glad to hear this resonated with you. French Dispatch I loved (the first two parts…) and felt like a return to a former glory Anderson possessed. There is a magic to his earlier work which, when shot on location, cannot be recreated on a sound stage.

Thank you for the insights into your taste & brand. Really fun write up. Been rewatching all of Wes Anderson’s movies as we roll into Christmas.

Margot Tannenbaum’s red luggage is by T. Anthony, (still) a mainstay on the UES. Favored by Diana Vreeland, the Duke & Duchess of Windsor, Elton John, Nancy Reagan, Lee Radziwill, Marilyn Monroe, and Vogue gals to this day.

Preppy as all get-out. 🥂🥂🥂

My Uncle took me to Gino’s when I first moved to New York City in the mid aughts. I’d forgotten the name of the restaurant but remembered the wallpaper. Sadly, both are gone but a wonderful memory was made.
