Loved all of this. The RT’s was also my first Wes Anderson film, seen in its opening weekend on my first trip to Manhattan, staying with a friend on the UWS. Smitten ever since. I don’t know the popular opinion, but French Dispatch also ranked high for me, seemed like a return to the literary visual storytelling of this film…. Thanks for the read, sir.
Very glad to hear this resonated with you. French Dispatch I loved (the first two parts…) and felt like a return to a former glory Anderson possessed. There is a magic to his earlier work which, when shot on location, cannot be recreated on a sound stage.
My Uncle took me to Gino’s when I first moved to New York City in the mid aughts. I’d forgotten the name of the restaurant but remembered the wallpaper. Sadly, both are gone but a wonderful memory was made.

Thank you for the insights into your taste & brand. Really fun write up. Been rewatching all of Wes Anderson’s movies as we roll into Christmas.
Truly my pleasure. The Royal Tenenbaums is my favorite Christmas movie lol
Fantastic commentary and unabashed enthusiasm.

Brilliant.
